About the Donegal Angling Tourism Alliance
Who we are:
The Donegal Angling Tourism Alliance (DATA) was formed in 2012 by game angling clubs and marine charter vessel owners as a co-operative marketing initiative. Members hail from all parts of the county from Lough Foyle to Donegal Bay. DATA is chaired by John Henry McLoughlin from Malin, and is supported by a Management Board comprising Paddy Boyle from Letterkenny, Molly Reynolds from Ballyshannon and Neil Gallagher from Creeslough. Key initiatives include establishment of an umbrella angling brand called 'Donegal Angling Holidays', promotion of that brand around the world, and a website that sells angling holidays directly from a map - so that people can see plainly what we have to sell, where it is located, and what visitor services are nearby.
The Donegal Angling Holiday wensite is currently run, under licence, by Inland Fisheries Ireland on behalf of DATA.
What we do:
We provide an online booking service for angling vacations in Donegal.
To underpin this, we work closely with fisheries authorities and development agencies to source investment for angling conservation and we encourage the strategic use of our fisheries resource for the social and economic benefit of local communities throughout the Donegal region.
On the tourism front, we work closely with fishery owners, angling businesses and visitor accommodations to provide our customers with a wide choice of angling experiences. This encompasses some of the very best fishing found anywhere in the world, including the wonderful wild atlantic salmon, wild sea trout and brown trout, and up to forty species of marine fish ranging from mackerel to shark. Our sea charter vessels also regularly encounter dolphins, basking sharks and whales.
